Teeth wear - "Zero Preparation" Therapy with Direct Complex Rehabilitation

A two-day hands-on course with a patient with a full protocol of increasing the VDO.

The aim of this course is to master practical skills in increasing the VDO with direct technique.

1. Theoretical introduction:

• Why do teeth lose their volume?
• Teeth wear? Erosion? Abrasion? Abfraction?
• Diagnostics and centric relation
• Aesthetic planning: determining the length of new anterior teeth, smile composition
• Photographic pictures: the most important shots
• Wax up and aesthetic mock up
• Functional wax up– increasing the VDO: crowns? onlays? direct fillings?
• Silicone index technique: how to avoid the most common mistakes, how not to make overhangs, how not to increase the VDO too much or too little
• What to increase first: anterior or posterior segment? How to plan? How to perform the procedure?
• Equilibration of the occlusion, functional equilibration
• Anterior restorations: when porcelain veneers and when composite restorations?

2. Demonstration on the patient:

A patient with an indication for increasing the VDO with direct technique was qualified for the course
During the demonstration will be discussed:

• CR, WAX UP, MOCK UP
• preparing the silicone index and its adjustment
• increasing the VDO with direct restorations
• deprogramming and equilibration

3. Exercises on the models:

• Participants work on the models
• Taking silicone impressions
• Adjusting and controlling the indexes
  
• Increasing the posterior segment with direct composite
• Restoring the anterior segment with composite
• Removal of excess, finishing and polishing of the restorations
• Functional equilibration
